National Hero..erk!

An email circulating right now stating a new national hero with an attached picture of Manny Pacquiao don in Jose Rizal's Suit (I just name it as is...hehehe).

Certainly Manny our boxing hero and currently champ has a lot of charms. He been an inspiration and household name since getting the crown, beating his opponent and successfully depend the title. What he get with it?!? Alas..price money from the fight (we're not just talking here of hundred thousands), a sponsorship of all major products, and now a movie of his life. you do the math. It's really a huge amount of Manny erk money that is.

And Jose Rizal, He belongs to a family from Calamba, Laguna. He exposes the anomaly of the Spaniards through his talent in Writings. His novels "Noli me tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" causes his Life in Bagumbayan (which is presently called Luneta).

Personally, i dont think Manny Pacquiao surpasses the contribution that Jose Rizal contributed to our country... Manny Pacquiao as National Hero?! I dont think so!

we need to recognize Pacman. But whether or not to make him a national hero is currently unimportant. simply because we need more than a hero nowadays =D

i do agree with you blue_palito... but dont get me wrong, i admire manny sa ginawa nya currently sa bansa natin. He makes us proud...but, kung iisipin mo yung ginawa ni rizal dati it is far more than what he offered anu kapalit?! buhay nya!... at kung itatanung mo kung "applicable" pa ba iyun ngayon?!?...

History. Lagi na lang igugunita.

This generation have new problems, new heroes. Korek ka, madami na tayong heroes. Madalas, unrecognized. So kung me balak man sila palitan si Rizal, di siguro ako masyadong affected. As long as the next national hero has the equivalent (or greater) impact on us, on this generation, on this decade.

ps: si PGMA ba pede gawing hero? hehe
